Welcome to my website. I am a Lecturer in Quantitative Finance at the Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick. I was previously a visiting scholar at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2018. I hold a PhD in Applied Statistics (2020), two Masters degrees (MA Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship 2022, and MSc. Computational Finance 2016), and a BSc. in Mathematics (2015). I serve as Program Director for two MSc. programs relating to sustainable risk, insurance, and finance (MSc. Risk Management and Insurance, and MSc. Financial Services). I also heavily contribute to Ireland’s first online Masters that combines machine learning and finance (module creator for ‘Deep Learning in Finance’ and ‘Derivative Markets using Python’).
My research focus is on developing high-impact outputs in the new frontier of quantitative finance: applying Machine Learning / Deep Learning models to promote sustainability in finance. I am actively exploring funding opportunities in this research area. I have previously experienced success in completing industry-facing research projects funded by Enterprise Ireland. Through my research group, the Emerging Risk Group, I have also contributed heavily to two European Commission-funded H2020 projects (VIDAS and Cloud-LSVA) that addressed emerging risks stemming from highly automated vehicles, and one ongoing European Commission-funded ISFP project (Anti-FinTer) that looks at the use of crypto as a money-laundering tool.
You can find more details about my current research interests here, and the research interests of my wider research group here.
